My bed was picked up today for delivery to Ottawa. And I learned a handy trick for carrying the mattress more easily. The shipper took one of his straps from the van and placed it along the bottom of the mattress (when it is leaning up against the wall). Then he put screwdrivers through the loops at either end of the strap for handles. While my bed has handles on it already, it's wrapped in plastic and you can't really use the handles, so this was great and we were able to carry out of the house and into the trailer with no problem. I may have to remember this trick when carrying other heavy, awkward items.
