I learned how to fill in windshield chips today, or at least how it is done. The chips get filled with some sort of anaerobic resin that only cures and hardens with UV light. Which makes me suspicious of the parking lot windshield doctors. And it cures faster if there is no oxygen present, which is why they put the little "band-aids" over the cracks while it is curing.
