An old roommate from 8 years ago is in town for a wedding right now, and I had the chance to catch up with her this afternoon. She is currently doing two masters degrees, one in library science and one in information science. So, I learned the difference between these two disciplines. While there is overlap between the two, especially as libraries become increasingly electronic, information science is more about the interface between humans and technology. I also learned a nifty new word for a librarian in a medical library: informatician. I imagine this as shorthand for information magician.
