I flew home for Christmas holidays today. I had a chatty cab driver who taught me, nay reminded me, that mother nature will always be smarter than us (although he was trying to make the point that scientific research is pointless).
But I also learned what will make a wing of airport gates at the start of the busy Christmas season quiet, and serious. The crowds of travelers were all still and silent, heads turned to the large TV screens, watching the day's news in shock. I learned that there are atrocities that leave even the frenzied media at a loss for words.
